Vikings are coming!

My home town Elbląg (German Elbing) has been taken by the Vikings. Four days festival  has been held on “Granaries’ Island” (Wyspa Spichrzów) from 15th to 18th of August. The program included: fights, skirmishes, competitions, folk concerts, dances, fireworks.  One of the attraction was a cruise on a Viking longboat – ‘Welet’.

The Siege of Malbork 2013

DSC_8674603 years ago, after defeating the Teutonic Order main forces in glorious battle of Grunwald, Polish King WładysławJagiełło rushed towards the main stronghold of the Grand Masters. The siege lasted for months but the castle was not taken.

Malbork castle is one of the biggest medieval strongholds ever built. Every July since 1999 we can participate in the siege of Malbork . This year it was 14th event organised. People from around the world, could admire marches of the armies, observe skirmishes and tournaments in the castle’s fosse or simply explore the castle.
